AllSportsTucson.com has reached out for high school seniors to write the class of 2020 a letter during this unique time of their schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s letter was written by Palo Verde guard Angel Addleman, who will next play basketball at Pima Community College. She is the daughter of Al Addleman, a former local head basketball coach.
Dear Class of 2020,
COVID-19 has affected so many lives this year. It is a devastating blow, and we all have suffered from it or felt its damage in some form or another. This is a difficult time for all of us, but especially for the class of 2020. We have missed so many enjoyable times and opportunities that we looked forward to as our high school years progressed. I remember as a freshman in high school thinking about what my senior year would look like, and what I would achieve. I could never have even imagined something like this would happen.
I am disappointed that I couldn’t run the 4×100 relay with my teammates, beat personal records, learn new things from my coaches, and just experience this half of my senior year as I would have hoped to. There were so many things to look forward to! But our class, and everyone else, will come out stronger.
We’re all meant to face hardships in our lives, It is part of growing and becoming who we are meant to be. Right now more than ever we need each other. Even if we can’t be face to face with the people we love, we can still make a positive impact in people’s lives. My hope for my class of 2020 seniors is that we set an example for those behind us and come out of this as people who are braver, stronger, and more beautiful!
Sincerely,
Angel Addleman
