Senior Letter to Class of 2020: Catalina Foothills’ William and Caroline Parker

AllSportsTucson.com has reached out for high school seniors to write the class of 2020 a letter during this unique time of their schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s letter was written by Catalina Foothills football player William Parker and twin sister Caroline Parker, who was a standout volleyball player for the Falcons. William is headed to Colgate and Caroline to Western Colorado. Their parents are former Arizona standout athletes — dad Glenn played football and went on to a successful NFL career and mom Casey was an accomplished synchronized swimmer with the Wildcats.

Dear athletes in the Class of 2020,

The one thing competitive sports has taught all of us is how to deal with an abrupt ending without getting the end result that we had envisioned. Every athlete has at least one memory of having to walk away from a group of teammates and coaches that you had grown so close to and had worked so hard with towards a common goal.

Thankfully, athletics has prepared us for when the end result is initially a feeling of devastation and loss, but soon turns into memories of friendship and achievement. What is always remembered is the laughter, bus rides and celebrations after wins.

Will being a member of the graduating class of 2020 teach us to compete harder, cheer louder and appreciate the smallest of moments? That, thankfully, is completely in our control. Good luck to everyone!

Sincerely,

William and Caroline Parker
