In the most optimistic viewpoint, high school football will kick off about three months from today — in 91 days, or 13 weeks.
Not one person knows whether the season will start on time, however, or if football will be played at all in the fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All we can do is hope and look at the 2020 high school football schedules coming out as if they are teasers for a much-anticipated show.
Flowing Wells released its schedule today, a day after Ironwood Ridge and Cienega started the trend of whetting the appetite of local sports-deprived fans in this time of the coronavirus.
The Caballeros will compete in the 5A Sonoran I against Salpointe, Buena, Cholla, Desert View and Mountain View. Buena and Salpointe replace Empire and Rincon/University in this region. The Lancers were in the 4A Kino last year and Buena the 5A Southern.
Ironwood Ridge and Cienega are in the 5A Sonoran II along with Marana, Nogales, Sunnyside and Rincon/University.
Here are the schedules for Flowing Wells, Ironwood Ridge and Cienega.
