Sunnyside basketball standout Angelina Alcantar signed with Arizona Christian

Sunnyside guard Angelina Alcantar (5-5) signed with Arizona Christian the program announced on Monday.

Alcantar was a major force behind the push to move Sunnyside from a 63rd ranking to the first playoff appearance for the Blue Devils since 2005. Alcantar scored 17 points in the 63-55 victory at Willow Canyon to advance in the playoffs.

Alcantar finished her career with 1,159 career points, averaging almost 12 points an outing.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years.
