Tanque Verde RB Dillon Simmers rushed for 192 yards on 10 carries with 3 TDs to help Tanque Verde defeat Rincon/University 49-10 Friday night. Simmers also made all seven PATs in the game.
Simmers will receive an APS Digital Print banner for himself and for his school and he also earned the Frog & Firkin Football for his teammates to sign.
The victory broke a 15-game losing streak by the Hawks and it avenged a 61-14 loss at Rincon/UHS last year. Tanque Verde (1-0) is slated to play at Rio Rico (1-1) on Nov. 13.
