Pusch Ridge No. 4 Seed in 3A State Playoffs, Host No. 5 Wickenburg Friday

Pusch Ridge’s first season under first-year coach Kent Middleton and his staff continues to be a joy ride with the Lions announced as the No. 4 seed in the 3A state playoffs on Saturday morning during the bracket reveal.

Pusch Ridge will host No. 5 Wickenburg in a quarterfinal round game Friday at 7 p.m. The Lions’ seeding means they have a potential matchup against No. 1 Yuma Catholic in the semifinal round in Yuma. The teams played there on Oct. 9 with Yuma Catholic prevailing 14-7.

Wickenburg is 5-2 after its upset over Blue Ridge on Friday night. The Wranglers won that game 12-7 on the road.

The Lions are 6-1 following Friday night’s 49-7 win over visiting Gilbert Christian in a play-in game. Senior running back Evan Lovett gained 306 yards on only 12 carries with four touchdowns in the game.
