Arizona Wildcats’ Aari McDonald Pac-12 Player of Week for sixth time in career


Arizona senior guard Aari McDonald has been named Pac-12 Player of the week after averaging 21.5 points in Arizona’s first ever road sweep over Colorado and Utah over the weekend.

The preseason All-American scored 21 of her 24 points in the second half at Colorado, leading the charge in Arizona’s comeback in Boulder. Against Utah, she had six steals to go along with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. She also shot 40 percent from 3-point range, making six shots from beyond the arc.

McDonald also made all 13 of her free-throw attempts against Colorado and Utah, including an 11-of-11 performance at Colorado after not attempting one in the first half.

McDonald averages 21.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game this season. She is shooting 43 percent from the field, 35 percent from three and 83 percent from the free throw line.

McDonald and the Wildcats (6-0 overall, 5-0 Pac-12) are off to their best start in conference history. They are scheduled to play Idaho on Wednesday at noon at McKale Center.
