Celia Schrecker & Jake Myre win the Barrio Winter Golf Classic

Ironwood Ridge standout Celia Schrecker shot a 2-over-par 72 in the second round of the Barrio Winter Classic held at the El Rio Golf Course Monday to secure a commanding 12-stroke victory in the 15-18 Division.

Schrecker started the final round six strokes behind Brooklynn Maes of New Mexico but the junior finished with a 12-over 152 to the 20-over mark recorded by Maes. Salpointe junior Susie Gietl came in third place (88-74 162).

Sabino sophomore Jake Myre shot a 6-over (73-73 146) to get past Canyon del Oro standout Beckett Carlson by two strokes (73-75 148). Former Sabino standout RayJ Ramirez took third (71-80 151). Ramirez led the field by two strokes after the first round.

Local eighth grader Zaida Wise won the Girls 13-14 Division by two strokes (64-74 138) over Rincon/UHS freshman Lily Huether (64-76 14), Kiah Franklin (48-41 89) of Oro Valley won the 11-12 Division by one stroke over Olivia Franklin (47-43 90) and Ariela Renee Trejo won the 9-10 Division (45-47 92).

Ironwood Ridge freshman Jayden Schmitz won the Boys 13-14 Division (71-77 148) over Noah Castro of Tubac (74-78 152), Zachary Schaefer of Tucson won the 11-12 Division with a 1-under (34-35 69), Kallum De Guia won the 9-10 Division (42-29 81) and Jaxxen Hardenbrook won the 6-8 Division (32-37 69).

The Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association (SAJGA) hosted the Barrio Winter Classic along with the Ricki Rarick Junior Golf Program and the First Tee of Tucson.

The New Year Holiday Classic is slated for Dec. 30-31 at the Fred Enke Golf Course.
