Apparently, Arizona has found its man: Jedd Fisch is expected to be named the school’s new head football coach.
Clearly, he’s not the guy – or coach – UA athletic director Dave Heeke said he’d be looking to hire in a press conference last week.
Instead, UA went with Fisch, who has been the quarterbacks coach for the New England Patriots the last couple of years.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news this morning. UA has set a press conference for 12:30 p.m. today to announced the hire.
No surprise that San Jose State coach Brent Brennan was also considered a finalist.
Fisch reportedly has a close relationship with UA president Robert Robbins.
Fisch, 44, coached at UCLA in 2017, taking over for the then-fired Jim Mora on an interim basis.
He has extensive NFL coaching background, having worked at New England under Bill Belichick, Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Ravens.
There will be more on this story later today.
