COVID-19 and its health threat forced Tucson Youth Football & Spirit Federation commissioner Julius Holt to cancel the 2020 season, but the historic youth sports organization is planning a return to action late this summer for its 52nd year.
Registration for tackle and flag football and cheer will start March 1-6 for all returning players. Open registration for new players will be March 7.

“Last year, we had to pause the season because of all the unknowns surrounding COVID-19,” Holt mentioned in a statement to the TYFSF associations. “We are looking forward to having the playoffs, city championship, Flag Fiesta and city cheer championships in 2021.”
The 16 associations within TYFSF in 2021:

“We believe football and cheer are important and play a vital role to our youth and their social and mental health,” Holt mentioned. “TYFSF plans to do everything in our power to provide an eight-game season in 2021 for tackle, flag and cheer. We are committed and determined to make sure we have a football season in 2021.”
The target day for the first day of practice will be July 12. The last day to form a team will be Aug. 20. Registration will close Sept. 1.
Holt ended his statement with this message, all in caps: “TYFSF IS BACK AND READY TO PUT ON THE BEST SHOW IN SOUTHERN ARIZONA.”
