Arizona’s Aari McDonald named to Wooden Award Late-Season Top 20

Arizona senior point guard Aari McDonald was named to the John Wooden Award Late-Season Top 20 on Monday afternoon. She previously was listed as a top 25 selection for the prestigious award.

McDonald is one of four Pac-12 players on the list.

McDonald has led No. 9 Arizona in points (averaging 18.8), assists (4.8) and steals (2.5) all season long. She also averages 5.3 rebounds a game.

The All-American and reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year has scored in double-figures in 79 straight games, the longest current streak in the country and the second longest streak of any Pac-12 player since 2000.

McDonald is the NCAA’s career scoring leader among active players and recently scored her 2,000th career point extended to her freshman season at Washington.

She is currently at 1,730 points in her Arizona career.
