Cienega infielder Breezy Hayward named to PGF High School All-American Watch List

2021 PGF High School All-American Watchlist Announced

Cienega senior standout Breanna “Breezy” Hayward was the only player from Southern Arizona placed on the 2021 PGF High School All-American Watch List on Monday. Hayward batted .591 with 3 doubles, a triple a home run and 9 RBI to help lead the Bobcats to a 6-1 record last spring.

University of Arizona commits Paige Dimler (OF: Rancho Buena Vista, CA), Madi Elish (P: Crown Point, IN), Amber Tovan (INF: Northridge, CA) and Allie Enright (INF: Santa Carita, CA) also made the watchlist.

Also from Arizona are Anna Berger (Snowflake), Brylee Bilger (Surprise), Rylee Holtorf (Phoenix), Callie Honig (Scottsdale), Megan Lake (Glendale), Macy Lee (Phoenix), Hannah Lindsay (Surprise), Gianna Memoli (Gilbert), Raci Miranda (Payson), AnneMarie Murphy (Goodyear), Spencer Prigge (Phoenix), Loganne Stepp (Chandler) and Emma Villaescusa (Phoenix).

Hayward will be playing for Texas Tech.


Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams. Competing in hockey, basketball, baseball and track & field in high school, his unique perspective can only be found here and on AZPreps365.com. Andy is the Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016.
