Information from the Arizona media relations department contributed to this report:
Adia Barnes was named one of the 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award on Wednesday, marking the second straight year she has earned that honor.
She joins Tara VanDerveer as the only two Pac-12 coaches on the list and was a finalist for the award last season.
Barnes led the Wildcats to a second-place finish during the regular season. That’s Arizona’s best finish in the league since the 2003-04 season.
The Wildcats won 13 conference games, the most since 2003-04 and finished the regular season with an overall record of 15-4.
They are ranked No. 11 in the nation, their 32nd straight week of being ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. That’s the longest stretch in program history.
Arizona has been ranked in the top 10 in 13 of the 15 polls this season.
The Wildcats enter the season as the No. 2 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and will face the winner of the Washington State-Utah game on Thursday at 6 p.m.
