Badger baseball standout Jake Federico named Briar Cliff Athlete of the Week

(BC Graphic)

Former Tucson High standout Jake Federico was named Briar Cliff Athlete of the Week after he helped his team earn a 5-1 record last week. According to a release, Federico had six hits in 19 at bats (.316) with two home runs, four RBI, five runs and two stolen bases. As the team played its first game on the new infield turf at Bishop Mueller, a walk-off single by Federico helped BC start the home season 1-0 with a win over NCAA D-II Southwest Minnesota State.

In the four-game series sweep over Presentation, Federico crossed home plate five times including two solo home runs in game one. For the season, he is batting .333 with 19 hits, 17 runs and has 13 RBIs.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.
