One-time starting guard James Akinjo is headed east and will play for Baylor next season.
Baylor won the NCAA title earlier this month.
The move to leave and not come back to Arizona was expected but where he’d land was the question. Akinjo also declared for the NBA draft – testing the waters – so as to keep his options open. But on Friday morning, he posted on Instagram that he has decided to make Waco, Texas his next stop.
Akinjo, dubbed the “heart and soul” of the team by former coach Sean Miller, transferred to Arizona from Georgetown two years ago.
Last season, Akinjo was a first-team all-Pac-12 selection.
