New Arizona men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd has realized all his exes (friends) might be at Gonzaga but he’s looking at Tennessee.
This is no country song – kinda – but a quick look at Arizona’s new men’s basketball opponent.
According to reports, UA has pushed back the dates on playing Gonzaga and now will face the Volunteers instead this upcoming season. It will be a home-and-home series The game will be played in Tennessee. UA gets a return trip the year after.
Of course, Lloyd was hired away from Gonzaga last month after his 20 years in Spokane, Wash.
Arizona will face Tennessee in late December to face one-time Texas coach Rick Barnes. Former UA coach, the late Lute Olson, and Barnes had great, competitive battles back in the day. Tennessee is scheduled to return the game in 2022.
Because of the new schedule, UA won’t be facing Gonzaga for a couple of years after the Tennessee series is complete.
