The Indoor Football League announced on Wednesday that Tucson Sugar Skulls quarterback Demry Croft, who played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers for part of his college career, was awarded Week 6 Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Tucson’s 55-35 win over the Duke City Gladiators on Sunday.
The Offensive Player of the Week award is the first of Croft’s career, coming in just his second IFL game. Croft is also the first member of the Sugar Skulls to earn Player of the Week honors in 2021.
In a head-to-head matchup against the previous Offensive Player of the Week in Nate Davis, Croft completed 13 passes for 103 yards with a 59.1 completion percentage, resulting in five touchdown passes. The dual-threat quarterback also led the team in rushing yards with 67 and added a rushing touchdown.
Croft leads the Sugar Skulls in several offensive categories to start his IFL rookie season. He leads the team in passing (263) and rushing yards (119), yards per carry (4.4), passing touchdowns (seven) and is tied with running back Mike Jones for the most rushing touchdowns (three).
Croft is fourth in the IFL in quarterback efficiency (148.3) and completion percentage (58.3), and fifth in rushing yards per game (59.5).
