Amphi High School and University of Arizona graduate Corben Sharrah finished fourth Wednesday in one of four quarterfinal heats of the BMX competition in the Tokyo Olympics, enabling him to qualify for the semifinal round.
Sharrah, a Class of 2014 Amphi graduate who earned his degree in Science at Arizona in 2018, and the top 16 remaining will compete in the semifinals and potentially the finals on Thursday.
Sharrah is experiencing his second Olympics competition. He finished ninth in the Rio Olympics in 2016. He won a world championship
According to his USA Cycling bio, Sharrah was only 2 when his parents brought home a bike that they bought from a store such as Walmart or Target, not a local bike store. Sharrah got the most out of the bike.
He designed and built a legitimate BMX practice track in his backyard. He attributes his parents, brothers, sister, and grandfather for pushing him to succeed in competition.
