“It’s impossible for me to put into words how incredible this experience has been! From getting a silver medal in the synchro event to getting 5th in the world in the individual event. It’s been such a roller coaster ride the past 5 years and I am beyond grateful for everyone that has been apart of the ride, both the ups and the downs. At the end of it all, tears of happiness were shed because I am now able to look back at where I was and see how far I’ve come. I am very proud of the work I’ve put in and I’m so excited to show the world what I have to offer in 3 years. On to Paris 2024!” Delaney Schnell.
It was a long night in Tokyo for those who watched from Tucson but Delaney pulled off one of the best performances for an American since Laura Wilkinson took fifth place in the 10-Meter Platform in the 2004 Olympics. Quan Hongchan of China won gold last night with 466.20 points, Chen Yuxi of China won silver with 425.40, Australia’s Melissa Wu took bronze with 371.40, Gabriela Agundez Garcia of Mexico scored 358.50 for fourth place and Schnell came in with 340.40 points.
2016 Olympian Jessica Parratto teamed up with Delaney to win the silver medal in the Women’s 10-Meter Synchro Finals last week in Tokyo. This was the first-ever medal for Team USA in 10-Meter Synchro.
