Maybe Jedd Fisch knows who his starting quarterback will be; maybe he doesn’t. Well, as of late Sunday night after Arizona’s practice under the cloud-covered stars, he didn’t know who his potential starter would be.
He needed more time to review the film of the scrimmage to determine who it would be.
Gunner Cruz, Will Plummer or Jordan McCloud?
All have their special qualities, but we should know sometime soon. He’s said he’s not going to keep it a secret, given there’s no need to.
“We’ll probably need a couple of days to get it right, to confirm that decision,” Fisch said on Sunday night after the scrimmage. “Hopefully, by Saturday night, the next scrimmage we will have that guy starting with the ones. …
“We’ll get there sooner rather than later.”
Despite some turnovers, bad snaps and penalties, Fisch said he saw “some good things, some bad.”
Notable
In attendance last night were three players who could have an impact this season and beyond. Fisch said receiver Ma’jon Wright, tight end Carson Cota and defensive tackle Mo Diallo were in attendance. They were visible on the sidelines. Cota, a three-star prospect, is from this year’s high school class. His brother plays at UCLA. Diallo is a graduate transfer from Central Michigan. He was a first-team All-MAC last season. Wright played for UA last season, transferred to Middle Tennessee State, then returned. He likely won’t be eligible this season.
