Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North standout Class of 2023 pitcher Ryan Maddox announced on Monday she has committed to Arizona’s softball program, now coached by Wildcat legend Caitlin Lowe.
Maddox is the first high-level recruit to commit to Lowe’s program since Lowe took over for the retired Mike Candrea in June.
“I’m so down for the Lowe era!!!” Maddox declared in a tweet. “It’s a dream come true to announce that I have committed to play for @ArizonaSoftball. Thank you to my coaches and trainers who have helped me achieve this dream!”

Maddox was one of two sophomores honored as a first-team all-state player by CalHiSports.com after the 2021 season in the spring.
“Ryan has solidified herself as one of the top pitchers in not just the Central Section, but the whole state last season,” CalHiSports.com writes. “The ace sophomore hurler put up eye popping stats over 20 games. Clovis North (Fresno) won its first softball D1 section title behind almost exclusively her arm.
“Maddox had the circle for all but 12 innings for the Broncos, with the pitcher sporting a 0.64 ERA over 131 ⅓ innings while punching out 192 batters on the year. Expect Clovis North to have a chance against anyone in the state for the next two years with Maddox flinging the ball.”
Maddox was also selected the 2021 Fresno Bee Softball Player of the Year.
