SAM’S CORNER: Good week of Final 4 banner, wins, #LinoStrong & Virgin Islands

Hello Wildcat fans!

Two games this week and we were able to get the win for both of them. We opened up on Monday against Texas Southern when we raised our Final Four banner. It was a surreal moment to see the banner go up and know it will be a part of Arizona history for forever. Thank you to all the fans that came out and supported us, not only at the game but through our tournament run.

Our next game was against Marist all the way from New York. We started off slow but were able to get back into the groove of things and finish with a win before heading to the Islands! In case you haven’t heard yet, we are headed to St. Thomas for a Thanksgiving tournament. We will be there for almost a week playing three games and getting some time by the beach. I am very excited especially since my parents are going. It will be nice to have them during the holiday times.

Our game this Friday was also an event to help raise Kleenex boxes for Lino. He has been battling cancer for over ten years. Adia was able to visit him in the hospital and he voiced some things he would do to help improve hospitals. One thing he mentioned was having real soft tissues to blow your nose. He said he wanted to raise about 500. Of course, Adia always goes above and beyond and she said her goal is 5,000. In one day we made all the announcements and thanks to our amazing fan base we had tons of Kleenex boxes. I am not sure how many we actually got, but I know it was a lot.

In other news, it’s been a slow week. Nothing much has been going on in my personal life. I set up a dog camera in my room to see what Proxy does while I’m at practice. I can talk through it, listen in, and throw treats out. It’s pretty fun to mess around with Proxy. All I ever see her do is sleep in my bed. I also have been watching ‘Legacies’ on Netflix. It is a spin off of “Vampire Diaries’ which is my favorite show ever. I will most likely be downloading that for the plane ride to the Islands, but after that, it’s Christmas movies all day!
