Young Oro Valley resident Sadie Edwards picked up a hole-in-one at the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association (SAJGA) Barrio Thanksgiving Open at El Rio held this weekend. Only 8 years old, Edwards recorded her ace on the par-3 sixth hole to draw closer to the winner of the Boys/Girls 6-8 Division Chance Hardenbrook of Marana. Hardenbrook shot 69 for the tournament and Edwards came in five shots back at 74.
Ironwood Ridge sophomore Jacob Medina outlasted Aaron Vargas of Phoenix 149 to 151 to take the Boys 15-18 Division by two strokes. Empire standout Sarah Haak held off Tucson High standout Myranda Moreno 186 to 191 to take the Girls 15-18 Division title.
The SAJGA Crooked Tree Holiday Classic is next on the schedule and that First Tee Tucson offering will be held from Dec. 11-12 at the Crooked Tree Golf Course in Marana.
