Aztec Basketball Classic and Flowing Wells Shootout schedules

16 teams are taking part in the Aztec Boys Basketball Classic this week taking place at the Pima West Gymnasium. Bracket play began on Monday morning and the championship of the Silver Division is slated for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and the championship game of the Gold Division is set for Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

16 girls teams are taking part in the Flowing Wells Holiday Shootout starting on Dec. 28 with pool play in the morning followed by bracket play in the afternoon. The championship game is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Games played at invitations are not figured into the power-ranking system and the initial AIA rankings will be released on Jan. 6 at noon.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years.
