SAM’S CORNER: Following sweep of Mountain schools, clothing line launched

Hello Wildcat fans!

A very exciting week starting off with a sweep of the Mountain schools. We had a successful weekend starting off on Friday playing against Utah, which had the third-best offense in the country. They averaged 11 threes a game and they were very efficient from everywhere on the floor. We were able to limit them to 64 points and get the win on top of it. I got my season high of 25 points with 6 threes. I was very happy because my mom was at the game and she got to see me do well. Following Friday’s game, we had Colorado, which was No. 22 in the nation. They prioritize defense just like us and are aggressive. We got off to a very slow start and went down 21-9. We fought back and ended up winning by almost 20. Shaina had one of her best games that I have seen her play and she finished with 28 points. It was a great weekend for us as we were able to protect our home court.

We have a long stretch ahead of us as we head to UCLA, come back home (because Friday’s game at Cal was postponed) and then play at No. 2 Stanford on Sunday. We are going to rest up and get ready for a long road trip ahead of us where we can pull out some good wins hopefully.

Another exciting thing that happened was I launched my clothing line. I released the website after the Colorado game and so far the response has been amazing. Everyone has been nothing but supportive and I really appreciate it. I have been working on these clothes with former UofA player Danielle Adefeso for a few months now. She has really helped me and given me the freedom to do just about whatever I want. I really hope everyone enjoys the clothes. My goal is to eventually do camps as well for younger kids and some at the high school level. We will sell some clothes there as well and make it a big event. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to share and watch everything finally come together!
