Catalina Foothills did not look ahead to its anticipated match at Ironwood Ridge next week when the Falcons played in Thursday’s 3-1 win over host Mountain View.
Two goals by Emmy Barker and another from Emma Danforth propeled Catalina Foothills to its 3-1 win over the Mountain Lions.
Barker now has five goals and 12 points overall this season as only a sophomore. She shares the team lead in goals with senior Annie Tacey.

The Falcons, ranked No. 12 among 5A teams in the AIA power ratings, are now 7-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the 5A Sonoran. They kept pace with No. 7 Ironwood Ridge (11-2-1, 3-0) atop the region.
The schools meet Tuesday at Ironwood Ridge. The Falcons, under head coach Sou Moussa-Torres, need a win to be in a position to win the region title next Thursday against Flowing Wells at home.
Moussa-Torres is a former Amphi standout (Class of 1995) midfielder who became the ACCAC Player of the Year at Pima in 1996. She is in her third season as the Falcons’ coach.
Mountain View (2-7-1, 0-2-1) scored on a goal by junior midfielder Keylilah Gutierrez, who now has four goals this season.
