Julia Holt, the daugher of former Arizona football player Julius Holt who has signed with Howard University, was granted her appeal Wednesday to not sit half of her senior season at CDO following her transfer from Salpointe.
The younger Holt, a pitcher/first baseman, played only two games for Salpointe’s junior varsity team last season before leaving to CDO for the 2021-22 school year.
Under Arizona Interscholastic Association transfer rules, Julia was slated to miss the first half of the Dorados’ season.
According to Julius Holt, his daughter went before the executive board on Wednesday and made her case that a change was necessary for her.
The AIA reduced her ineligibility to approximately 25 percent of the games, only eight games of a potential 30-game schedule.
Julius Holt is also the retiring Tucson Youth Football & Spirit Federation president who spent the last six years in that capacity and more than 30 years with the organization overall.
“As a family, we are happy that the AIA listened to our daughter’s statement during the hearing,” the elder Holt stated. “Julia advocated and spoke for herself. We would like to thank Amphi AD Mr. Amado Soto and CDO AD Mr. Marco Dominguez for advocating for our daughter. We also appreciate the decision made by AIA. Today is a great day.”
