The Gametime Recruiting & Consulting College Showcase got underway early Saturday morning at Tempe McClintock High School (Javier Morales/AllSportsTucson.com)

Defense started things off by showing off speed and agility while running five-three-fives while the offense ran the 40-yard dash. After everyone had a chance to go through a few reps, they switched. The players then worked on more skill and position-specific drills to highlight their strengths before the group got together collectively for some one-on-one play to wrap up the morning.

After a 30-minute lunch break, the athletes returned and warmed up again before entering the final phase of the day, the 7v7 player draft and game. Again, the athletes were split into three groups, this time based on the draft by the coaches.

Not only did it bring out a chance for some friendly competition, but it allowed everyone a chance to work with other players.

Making perhaps the biggest splash early in the day was Way, as he was not only able to show off his size and speed, but also his hands and ability to reel in some tough passes. However, when the 7v7 game got underway, Alvarez and Felix were dominant when it came to picking up yards after the catch or making explosive plays in the shortened field.

Showing that the passing game is going to be improving in the near future for the Southern Arizona programs, Roman Jr., Sotelo and Dawes all showed off their strength and their accuracy with impressive passes during both the morning drills and the 7v7 play.

Neustadter was also a star during the 7v7 play, with a couple pass breakups and an interception.
