Arizona off to hot start in Chip Hale era

Mac Bingham and Tanner O’Tremba led an offensive onslaught Saturday as Arizona powered its way past Oklahoma 14-4 at Arlington, Texas.

The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start in the Chip Hale era.

With the 14 runs, Arizona has now plated 46 runs across three games against Oklahoma between 2021 and 2022. All three games took place in the state of Texas.

Bingham and O’Tremba, both outfielders, combined to drive in seven runs, led by a career-high four from Bingham. O’Tremba picked up his second home run in as many games this year, matching his total from 2021.

Left-hander Garrett Irvin got the start for the Wildcats and went four innings. He allowed just two runs on three hits while striking out five. He did not factor in the decision.

Right-handed reliever Quinn Flanagan got the win pitching 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts. Josh Randall, a right-hander, did not allow a hit and struck out two batters in two innings.

Arizona concludes its games at the State Farm College Baseball Showdown on Sunday aagainst Texas Tech. The No. 15 Wildcats and No. 14 Red Raiders will play at 1:30 p.m. with a broadcast on FloBaseball (fee required).
