The NJCAA has selected Tucson as the site of the NJCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships to take place Nov. 12-19, at the Kino Sports Complex.
The event will bring more than 1,200 players, coaches, families and fans to Tucson the week before Thanksgiving and is estimated to generate more than $1 million in revenue for area businesses.
Pima chancellor Lee Lambert, athletic director Jim Monaco, Visit Tucson sports sales manager Nick Pazzi and Chapman Automotive general manager Neb Yonas are scheduled to participate in a press conference Tuesday at Pima’s district offices to discuss this development.
The Pima men’s soccer team is coming off its second NJCAA Division II championship, achieved in November at Wichita, Kan. The women’s program also reached the title match for the first time in program history at that same time at Wichita.
