Little League: Oro Valley over Tucson Mountain in Minors Division; Updated schedule

Oro Valley beat Tucson Mountain 22-12 Tuesday night at Curtis Park to advance in the Elimination Bracket of the District 5 9-11 Baseball Division. Oro Valley (1-1) will face the loser of CDO and Canyon View Thursday night in another elimination game.

CDO (0-0) and Canyon View (1-0) are set to play Tuesday night with Canyon View beating Marana 22-0 in the late game Tuesday night. Marana (0-1) will play in an elimination game on Thursday against the loser of Thornydale (1-0) and Western (1-0).

Tucson Mountain (0-2) will play in a consolation game Friday night.

Tucson Mountain led Oro Valley 10-3 in the top of the second inning but Oro Valley scored four runs in their half of the second and then five more in the third to take control of the game at 12-10.  Tucson Mountain tied things up with two runs in the fourth inning but Oro Valley responded with 10 runs the rest of the way, forcing a run-rule situation after the fifth inning with the 22-12 victory.

For Oro Valley, Luke Sanborn went 2 for with 2 walks and a double; Tony Rademacher walked; Colby Pavone scored twice; Tyler Rademacher walked twice; Rogelio Willis had an RBI double and an RBI triple; Jeremy Spruce had an infield single and 3 RBI; Derek Franks had 2 RBI; Brooklyn Brewer had an RBI single; Roman Aguirre scored as did Liam Michel, Bryce Bridges and Kai Michel.

Liam Michel got the start for Oro Valley and he got 3 strikeouts, Cedar Yount also saw some action and he collected 7 strikeouts for the win. Franks picked up 2 strikeouts to close the game out in the fifth.

For Tucson Mountain, Reyes Alvarez went 2 for 4 with an RBI; Emory Saylor had a single; Martin Ayala had a double; Juvian Cordova scored; Andrew Armenta walked; Isaiah Gutierrez went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI; Isaiah Rocha had an RBI single; Elyseo Cepero had a single and Angel Rodriguez scored.

Alvarez started for Tucson Mountain and he had 5 strikeouts; Saylor took the mound and he gave way to Gutierrez who picked up 2 strikeouts; Ayala and Cepero also pitched for Tucson Mountain.
