Tucson looks to make it three wins in a row, complete a season sweep of their in-state rival, and clinch a playoff berth when it faces the Arizona Rattlers at Footprint Center in Phoenix tomorrow.
The Sugar Skulls defeated the Rattlers for the first time in franchise history in their previous matchup on May 7 at Tucson Arena.
Tucson is coming off a 39-32 win against the Vegas Knight Hawks last Saturday night at Tucson Arena, in which it set a franchise record for most wins (7) in a season.
Tucson (7-5) currently sits in third place in the Western Conference, one position behind perennial IFL powerhouse Rattlers (10-3), who occupy second place.
While Tucson wide receiver Quinton Pedroza hasn’t played the Rattlers at Footprint Center, he has heard about the atmosphere.
“Just heard it’s loud, but in football, I’ve played in tons of loud stadiums in college and stuff, so that’s not gonna effect me,” he said last Saturday. “It’s just gonna be kind of dial in, tune in, trust my mindset, and trust what we practice and go in there and play hard like I always do.”
If you are a fan of watching high-powered offenses, get your popcorn ready. The Rattlers and the Sugar Skulls rank in the top two of total points scored, total touchdowns scored and points per game in the IFL heading into the rematch tomorrow in Phoenix.
The Sugar Skulls (7-5) play the Arizona Rattlers (10-3) tomorrow at Footprint Center in Phoenix. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. You can watch the game live on the IFL YouTube channel.
