Sun Belt League: Silva pitches another gem for Speedway Gamblers

Isaac Silva (Eastern Arizona) spun his second straight outstanding game with a complete-game victory striking out 12 and pitching a two-hit shutout over the Aztecs.

Last week, Silva gave up no runs and struck out 16 in eight innings against the Old Tucson Gauchos.

Milo Rushford (Walden Grove – New Mexico State) led the Gamblers with three hits that included a triple and four RBIs. Liam Padden (Mercy, N.Y., College) also had three hits and drove in three runs.

Mason Saint Hilarie (Ironwood Ridge) had both hits for the Nighthawks off Silva.

CATALINA AZTECS 3, VAIL REBELS 2

In a well-played game that featured good pitching by both teams, led by Aiden Key (Ironwood Ridge) and Ruben Castro (Tucson HS) each driving in runs, the Aztecs pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to take a 3-2 lead that they held onto.

Ricky Santiago-Gonzalez (Glendale CC) pitched six strong innings for the Aztecs, scattering seven hits and striking out four.

Jason Maldonado (New Mexico Military Institute) was the winning pitcher in relief. Demitrius DeMatteo (New Mexico Military Institute) got the save .

Nick Arias (Tucson HS-Grand Canyon) hit a solo homer for the Rebels.

OLD TUCSON GAUCHOS 11, OLD PUEBLO KINGS 6

The Gauchos, after trailing 6-2, scored six times in the eighth inning and three times in the ninth inning as they moved into a tie for first place with Vail Rebels.

Chris Olea (Eastern Arizona ) led the Gauchos with three hits and two RBIs.

Alberto Nieto (Dickinson State), Carlos Molina (Paradise Valley CC), Braden Boisvert (Empire – Oregon State) all had two hits for the Kings.
