Junior League Western Region: Nogales falls to Hawaii but is still alive

Nogales fell to Hawaii 15-1 Sunday morning at the Junior League Western Region taking place in Bend, Oregon. The loss moved the Arizona State Champion over to the Elimination Bracket where the team will face the winner of Southern California and Idaho Monday at 2 p.m.

Nogales is now 2-1 at the regional and the team needs to win five games to get to the Junior League World Series, set for Taylor, Michigan starting on Sunday, August 14 where the West champion will face the host squad. Taylor is a suburb of Detroit.

The game with Hawaii was tied 1-1 through three innings of play but Hawaii plated five runs in the top of the fourth and nine in the sixth inning for the win.

Olivares had the RBI; Tapia had a double; Gomez had a double and Garcia and Mayer had singles. Celaya, Mayer, Gomez, Olivares and Molina all saw pitching action for Nogales.
