BOYS WRESTLING DIVISION IV/SECTION IV
Friday, February 10: Thatcher High School
Morenci won the Division IV/Section IV championship on Friday and the Wildcats qualified 11 wrestlers for state competition including six section champions. Morenci won the D-IV state championship in 2021 and 2022 and this is the ninth section title for the Wildcats.
From Southern Arizona, Willcox took fourth place with seven state qualifiers, San Manuel took fifth with five qualifiers, Tombstone took seventh with four qualifiers and Benson took eighth with three qualifiers. Bisbee and Valley Union had one state qualifier each.
The Division IV state tournament starts on Friday, Feb. 17 and all finals will follow on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
The rest of the sectionals involving teams from Southern Arizona are slated for Saturday.
