Sunnyside sophomore wrestler Sergio Vega is the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for February in consecutive years because his undefeated dominance continued from last year to this season.

Vega earned a repeat state championship in Phoenix on Feb. 18, when Sunnyside’s dynasty captured its sixth consecutive state title and 36th overall.

Vega has won the first 77 matches of his high school career,

He went 40-0 last season, capped by a state title at 113 pounds.

He finished 37-0 this season, including a state championship at 126 pounds.

He is attempting to match the unbeaten feat through a career at Sunnyside that Roman Bravo-Young achieved from 2014-18, going 189-0 with four state titles.
