Information from the Arizona media-relations department contributed to this report:
Arizona completed its sweep of North Dakota State on Sunday, with an 11-1 run-rule victory in eight innings, extending its winning streak to five games in the process.
The matchup with the Bison (1-11) included a homecoming for former Cienega and Pima standout Terrell Huggins, an outfielder who went 7 for 15 with a home run, three doubles and three RBIs in the three-game series at Hi Corbett Field.
North Dakota State was previously coached by former Sabino and Arizona player Tod Brown, who left to New Mexico last season.
Arizona (8-3) put together a complete performance Sunday, including pitcher Bradon Zastrow working six innings and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out eight. He earned the win to improve to 2-0.
Center fielder Mac Bingham continued his weekend of hot hitting, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of home runs and three RBIs, including the walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bingham now leads the team with five home runs this year.
First baseman Kiko Romero of CDO also swatted a home run, a three-run shot in the third inning that was his second long ball in as many days.
Arizona’s bullpen was also dominant, yielding just one hit while striking out three over two innings of work.
The Wildcats play at Grand Canyon on Tuesday (6 p.m., ESPN-Plus) and return to Hi Corbett Friday at 6 p.m. for the start of a three-game series with California. All three of those games will be shown by an Arizona Live Stream through the Pac-12 Networks.
