Arizona continues hit barrage, completes sweep of Utah

The Arizona Wildcats completed their second Pac-12 sweep of the season with a 9-5 victory over the Utah Utes on Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.

Four Wildcats (22-15, 9-12 Pac-12) notched multiple hits against Utah (14-24-1, 4-16-1), led by a two-hit, three-RBI performance from second baseman Mason White (Salpointe graduate) and a two-hit, two-RBI game from left fielder Chase Davis.

Davis belted his 32nd home run, placing him eighth on Arizona’s career list. He has 14 home runs and 43 RBIs this season.

White went 6-for-11 with four walks, a triple, grand slam and nine RBIs in the series with Utah.

Mac Bingham went 2 for 5 with two runs and a double on Sunday.

Arizona, which has won eight of its last 10 games, has recorded double-digit hits in 13 straight games. The Wildcats have a five-game winning streak and have won seven consecutive games at Hi Corbett.

Starting pitcher Aiden May (4-2) earned the win pitching five innings. The right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and struck out six.

Right-handers Trevor Long and Dawson Netz combined to allow no earned runs while striking out a pair in the last four innings.

Long scattered four hits in 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Netz went 1 1/3 innings allowing one hit.

New Mexico (19-16) features Southern Arizona players Caleb Herd, a catcher from Cienega; Dominic Felix, infielder from CDO; and Blake Lehmbeck, pitcher from CDO.

Arizona returns to Pac-12 play Friday for the start of a three-game series at Oregon State.
