Catalina Foothills senior standout Jared Perry beat Sahuarita standout Jacob Walton 6-1, 6-0 Saturday at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale to advance to the Division II semifinal round where he beat Andrew Yang of AZ College Prep 6-1, 6-3. Perry is the top seed and he will face No. 3 Adam Sun of Kellis for the state championship Monday evening at 5 p.m. Sun beat No. 2 Grant Cohen of Catalina Foothills 6-0, 6-2 in the other semifinal. Perry is playing for his third state title with COVID restrictions preventing him from competing as a freshman in 2020. As a team, the Falcons are still playing for their 17th championship and ninth in a row. The quarterfinals for team competition continues on Wednesday, May 3.
In 6A Baseball action, No. 2 Tucson beat No. 15 Desert Ridge 7-6 in eight innings with sophomore Gennaro Brito knocking in the winning run with bases loaded with two outs.

4A No. 1 Salpointe held on to defeat No. 16 Coconino 5-4 with two RBI each from Jose Simon and Izaiah Moraga. Diego Garcia picked up the win with six strikeouts. Tyler Ragan hit a grand slam for Coconino.

4A No. 5 Canyon del Oro beat No. 12 Mica Mountain 12-0 in five innings of play with Lucas Casey earning the win with six strikeouts. Casey also collected three RBI.
1A No. 6 Desert Christian beat No. 11 Superior in a 9-inning epic. Down 10-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Adam Vavala started things off with a single and then Caden Esquerra drew a walk to put two on. Bennett Vondrak doubled to cut the lead down to 11-9. Austin Yarger singled in Vondrak one out later to tie the game at 10-10 and then Ethan Craig reached on an error and Yarger moved to third base. Cooper Payne reached on an error which allowed Yarger to score the winning run.
In 5A Softball action, No. 7 Mountain View beat No. 10 Cienega 3-2 to advance. Oregon State commit Aubrey Marx went 3-3 with a double and and RBI triple for the Bobcats but Arianna Figuero held firm and picked up the win for Mountain View.
4A No. 1 Salpointe beat No. 16 Seton Catholic 6-1 behind home runs from Gianna Mares, Anyssa Wild and Allie Hayes. Arianna Flores got the win with nine strikeouts. Mares also saw action in the circle and she added four strikeouts.
No. 5 Canyon del Oro beat No. 12 Pueblo 8-1 with Sydnee Wendel getting the win to go along with two doubles. Amelia Streuber pitched the last three innings.
