Little League: Randolph wins District 12 Juniors championship; 9-11 championship slated for Saturday

Randolph rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth to defeat Cactus 4-3 in the District 12 Juniors championship on Friday night at Lawrence Park.

Randolph advances to play in the state tournament at Queen Creek starting July 15.

Milo Vasquez and Andrew Hendrick led off the sixth for Randolph by walking.

Marlon Sanchez followed with a single that scored Vasquez. An error on the play allowed Hendrick to run home and Sanchez to advance to second.

Aydan Galvan’s double scored Sanchez to tie the game at 3.

Carmelo Benitez followed with a single that brought Galvan home to put Randolph ahead.

Christian Salazar retired all four batters he faced after relieving Hendrick, the starter, with two outs in the sixth. Hendrick finished with 10 strikeouts, including four consecutive to finish his time on the mound before reaching the pitch-count limit.
