2023 football: 50 top Southern Arizona seniors — Salpointe WR/DB Armani Sheriff

Today marks only 13 days until the kickoff of the 2023 Southern Arizona high school football season with games scheduled Aug. 18. AllSportsTucson.com is listing 50 of the top seniors in Southern Arizona during this stretch. This is not a ranking. We acknowledge more than 50 quality seniors will play on high school fields locally this fall and we will report on them accordingly.

Armani Sheriff, 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, should evolve into more of targeted receiver this season while he continues to improve on his ability as a pass defender. … He tallied 30 catches for 291 yards with three touchdowns last season. … He also had 22 tackles and two interception in the Salpointe secondary. … Coaches in the 6A East Valley last season selected him to the all-region second team. … He has received a scholarship offer from Hastings (Neb.) College … He attended camps in June at Arizona and UNLV in addition to one held in Tucson by Western New Mexico. … Consulted with the recruiting process by former Arizona State defensive back Rodney Cox of Gametime Recruiting and Consulting.

Salpointe coach Eric Rogers on Sheriff: “Armani exemplifies everything our Lancer football program stands for. Great teammate, hard working, committed to excellence, accountable, tough, resilient, will do anything to help his team. He is a two-year two-way starter on offense, defense and special teams. He is one of our team leaders and biggest playmakers. He is going to be fun to watch this season!”
