Montana 5, Randolph 4 (Randolph eliminated)
Randolph battled back to take a 4-3 lead on Montana at the Junior League West Region taking place in Bend, Oregon Sunday afternoon but the team from Butte score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the championship hopes of the team from District 12 here in Tucson.
Andrew Hendrick went 2 for 3 for Randolph and Christian Salazar went 2-3 with an RBI. Carmelo Benitez picked up two RBIs in the loss. Aydan Galvan, Salazar and Milo Vazquez saw action on the mound for Randolph. Randolph finished 1-2 at the West Regional.
AMERICAN LEGION WEST REGION SEMIFINAL: FAIRFIELD CA
Nevada 5, Tucson 2 (Third place finish)
Tucson Post 7 lost to Nevada 5-2 Saturday at the American Legion West Regional taking place in the Fairfield, California. Tucson went 3-2 at the West Region tournament, taking third place in the process. Tucson needed to beat the team from Las Vegas to set up a winner-take-all game with Texas Saturday evening.
Tucson went up 2-0 in the top of the second inning but Nevada scored four runs in the fourth and another in the sixth for the victory. Gennaro Brito went 2-3 with an RBI, Aldo Teilon had an RBI and Jaden Leon and Sebastian Pino picked up hits for Tucson. Jordan Lesley, Uziel Castillo and Tenochtli Nepan Ollin all saw action on the mound for Tucson.
