Notes: Robert Bonillas, hired by Desert View in 2012, is a former Arizona football player who played under the late Dick Tomey, of whom he was close to. Bonillas will match Humberto Federico for the longest tenure in Desert View history this season at 12 years. Federico coached the Jaguars for 12 seasons from their inception in 1985 to 1996. … QB Anthony Estrella returns for his senior year after a productive season last year. He completed 60 of 107 pass attempts for 1,207 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. … Sierra was also the leading tackler last season. The top returner is LB Hector Navarro, who finished with 59 tackles last season. … Desert View managed a 26-25 victory over visiting Willow Canyon last week. Willow Canyon tried a 2-point conversion after time expired but its pass was intercepted, preserving the Jaguars’ win. Desert View hosts Phoenix North on Friday before playing three consecutive games on the road, including a visit to Bonillas’ alma mater Nogales on Sept. 15.

Keep an eye out for: RB Kevin Zleh, a junior, is the top returning rusher with 1,000-yard runner Sean Sierra exhausting his eligibility. Zleh gained 303 yards on 38 carries last season as a sophomore.
