Notes: Daniel Sainz was an offensive line coach at Sahuaro High School under Scott McKee for nine seasons before becoming the head coach at Catalina Foothills in April 2021. Sainz was a senior center listed at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds at Santa Rita when Jeff Scurran coached the Eagles to the state championship game in 2008. Sainz’s offensive lines at Sahuaro were productive in terms of helping to generate a very potent running game. In the Cougars’ 2019 season, they rushed for 3,310 yards and three of their running backs gained at least 700 yards. Before Sainz became the offensive line coach, he served one season as an apprentice on McKee’s staff. … Catalina Foothills has experienced two 6-4 seasons under Sainz but did not qualify for the postseason each year. … RB Samuel Delgado rushed for 1,149 yards on 134 carries with 18 touchdowns last season. His rushed for more than 200 yards in the last two games of the season (241 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns in a win over Sahuaro and 203 yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns in a loss to Walden Grove). … Catalina Foothills plays four of its five non-region games on the road and four of its five region games at home. The Falcons went from the 4A Gila to the 4A Kino this year. They will play Sahuaro, CDO, Mica Mountain, Walden Grove and Pueblo. … One of the Falcons’ top players last year — Cole Revis — is a freshman tight end at NAU who will be in Tucson on Saturday with the Lumberjacks for the game at Arizona Stadium. … Giovanni Arenas, a senior offensive guard, was a member of the TYFSF 14U All-Star Team that played in the national championship game at Orlando, Fla., in 2019. He is a two-time first-team all-region selection at Catalina Foothills. …

Keep an eye out for: TE/OLB Jack Egginton, a 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. He has more of a basketball background coming from Australia. Only a junior, he should develop nicely in both sports and become a college prospect.
