The No. 5 ranked Pima mean beat the Glendale Gauchos 4-0 Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Field with all four goals coming from different players. Jose Luis Martin Montealegre put the Aztecs up 1-0 with a goal in the 18th minute and Ismael Ruiz (Tucson) had the assist.
Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro) made it 2-0 with a goal in the 33rd minute, assisted by Daniel Ehler (Marana). Nico Valenzuela (Salpointe) scored second in the 49th minute with an assist from Sanchez. Finally Ruiz took a Montealegre offering in the 75th minute for the 4-0 win.
Jose Carlos Ortiz (Nogales) closed out the game with one save.
The Pima women beat the Gauchos 2-1. Sydney Smith (Mica Mountain) scored the first goal of the game in the 56th minute with an assist from sophomore Kyleigh Oliver (Salpointe) and Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro) scored in the 73rd minute for the 2-0 lead. Smith assisted Walker.
The Gauchos scored with 11 seconds left on a goal from Edith Delgado.
The Aztec women will be back at the West Campus Aztec Field on Tuesday when they host GateWay Community College at 5:30 p.m. and the men will play at 8 p.m.
