The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (5-4-2, 4-2-2 in ACCAC) gained a shutout victory on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Field against Mesa Community College (2-9, 1-7).

The Aztecs blanked the Thunderbirds 3-0 as freshman Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge) had a hand in each of Pima’s goals.

The Aztecs are 4-0-2 in their last six games and have outscored their opponents 20-5 during that stretch, which included giving up no goals in the last two games.

Graves provided the assist in freshman Lizzie Walker’s (Canyon del Oro) goal in the 17th minute to put Pima on the scoreboard.

Up 1-0 in the second half, Graves found the back of the net on two occasions in the 48th and 55th minutes. Freshman Jessica Alvarez (Tucson) assisted in Graves’ second goal.

The Pima backfield of sophomore Samantha Michel (Walden Grove) along with freshmen Uriah Burrell (Catalina Foothills), Neveah Covarrubias (Pueblo), Ariela Sanchez-Hermosillo (Sahuaro), Amber Conner (Tanque Verde) and Ixta Mendez-Jimenez (Catalina Foothills) stifled Mesa to just one shot on goal.
