Marana junior receiver Dezmen Roebuck, an Arizona recruiting target, is on the brink of two prestigious state records after achieving the distinction of having the most career receptions in Southern Arizona history with 216.

Calvin Dacus of Sahuaro had the previous record for local players at 214 from 1997-99.

Roebuck’s 80 receptions this year lead the state. With three regular-season games remaining, he’s only 33 away from the state record of 113 held by Desert Edge’s Elijah Marks in 2013.

Dacus also holds the Southern Arizona record for season receptions with 100 in 1999.

Roebuck’s 216 career receptions are fourth-most in state history.

The state record for career receptions is 241 by Kade Warner at Desert Mountain from 2014-16.

Arizona recruit Brandon Phelps, a senior at ALA-Gilbert North, is No. 2 with 237.

Trevor Russell of Casa Grande ranks third with 217 receptions from 2013-16.

Roebuck still has another season to potentially become the record-holder in career receptions and receiving yards.

Phelps holds the record in career receiving yards with 4,027. Roebuck is at 2,745.
