Marana sophomore quarterback Colten “Coco” Meyer completed 33 of 45 pass attempts for a career-high 362 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Tigers’ 46-0 win Friday over visiting Cienega.
The victory was essential for Marana (5-5) to qualify for the 5A state tournament as the No. 11 seed. The Tigers will play at No. 6 ALA-Gilbert North (6-4) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in a first-round matchup.
Marana has won four of its last five games.
Meyer, a cousin of the famed Bourguet sports family in the Marana area, is the Week 12 APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Player of the Week.
