Sunnyside boys & girls wrestling teams claim Peoria Tournament of Champions titles

Sunnyside High School’s wrestling dynasty rolled with victories in the boys and girls competition at the Peoria Tournament of Champions at Peoria High School on Saturday.

Sunnyside boys had seven individual champions and the girls had three.

Sergio Vega, a junior wrestling up one weight class at 144 pounds in the event, improved to 97-0 in his career by winning his five matches.

Safford placed second in the boys compeitition. The Bulldogs’ Alex Chacon won the 113-pound championship.
