Sunnyside High School boys soccer, led by eight-year coach Casey O’Brien, heads into its last three regular-season games — two of them against highly-rated 6A South rival Tucson — with a 19-0-1 record and lofty MaxPreps rankings nationally and in Arizona.

The Blue Devils are ranked No. 12 in the nation by MaxPreps and they are rated No. 1 among 6A teams by the AIA.

Sunnyside has outscored its opponents 112-12.

The Blue Devils are led offensively by Angel Bracamonte-Pulido (29 goals), Aaron Abarca (26), and Johan Jimenez (23).

They are 96-16-5 in the last five years. During that time, they have a state championship and finished second. They have two top-50 national rankings. And they have won six out of eight state tournament games.

O’Brien is 144-27-8 in his tenure at Sunnyside.

The Blue Devils host Marana (1-8) on Tuesday before Thursday’s showdown against visiting Tucson (16-1).

The Badgers, who are on a 13-game winning streak, are rated No. 4 among 6A schools in the state by the AIA.

Sunnyside will then play at Tucson next Monday.
